Nearly 400 guests donning stunning spring hats enjoyed the McGovern Centennial Gardens and Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion during Hats in the Park. This was the most successful Hats in the Park to-date, raising over $360,000. The event honored the Gardens’ namesake, Kathrine McGovern, for her extraordinary support of the Centennial Gardens project.
During the event guests sipped prosecco, ventured to the top of The Mount, and gathered under the terrace outside of the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion. A short program led by Conservancy board chair Danny David highlighted the amazing achievements of the Conservancy. Chairs Estela Cockrell and Denise Monteleone, honoree Kathrine McGovern, and Mayor Annise Parker all shared heartwarming stories about the Park, and Conservancy executive director Doreen Stoller presented Mrs. McGovern with a tree that will be planted in the Gardens in her honor.
