Guests got their first sneak peek of a garden one hundred years in the making. As part of the daylong celebration, Hermann Park Conservancy invited Instagram users to take part in a photo contest by tagging their photos #HermannPark. The winning photo came courtesy of Daniel Lim.
McGovern Centennial Gardens is by far Hermann Park’s largest improvement project to date and is scheduled to officially open to the public at the end of November 2014. The gorgeous gardens will be free to the public and open seven days a week. The gardens feature a Family Garden, Centennial Green, 30’ Garden Mount, Celebration Garden, Rose Garden, and the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion.
As you explore the gardens, you will come across more than 490 new trees of over 50 different species; 760 hedge shrubs; 350 new roses in the Rose Garden; 106,875 other shrubs and perennials of 199 varieties; 115 new camellias and 650 new azaleas in the Woodland Garden; and so much more.
