Linebarger Goggan has been providing professional debt collection services to municipalities and school districts in Texas since 1976.  In the late 1990s, the firm began expanding its geographical footprint to outside the State of Texas.

Over the past four decades, the Linebarger law firm has grown to be one of the largest and most successful collection companies in the U.S., with more than 1,150 employees working out of 42 offices to represent more than 2,300 government entities. But beyond their physical presence, the firm always strives to be an integral part of the communities it serves.

Charitable giving has always been a core focus for the firm. In the past five years alone (2010-2014), the firm and its partners donated over $3.5 million dollars to charitable and educational causes. Its partners and employees have also contributed countless service-hours to these same causes. Carri Wells, the firm’s Chief Operations Officer of its San Antonio law office, says that “at the end of the day our law firm is a public servant and we feel like it is our responsibility to help those in need.”

The firm is also known for pursuing partnerships with local attorneys and small and disadvantaged companies. A majority of its partners are women and minorities. In fact, in 2009 PINK Magazine recognized Linebarger Goggan as being one of the “Top Companies for Women” and then in 2004 the Texas Lawyer noted that the firm is “the star” among Texas 25 largest law firms for its commitment to diversity.

“Diversity within our firm has never been a stated policy or strategic initiative, it’s just happened naturally for us because we are always looking to attract and hire the best people for the job and those people come in all colors, shapes and sizes, so to speak,” says Cathy Murray, the firm’s Managing Partner of its Chicago-based operations.

In addition to these notable accolades, the firm has received four Public-Private Partnership Awards from the U.S. Conference of Mayors, which is more than any other company of any kind has received in the 83-year history of USCM.  Three of those awards were in conjunction with the Cities of Dallas (2001), Houston (2007) and Port Author (2010), with the other being for results achieved in partnership with the City of Chicago (2004). Linebarger Goggan’s partners and employees obviously have a big heart beneath that law firm veneer, and their commitment to the places they serve runs deep and well beyond what is required of them by their public-sector clientele.
