She only turned eighteen on February 21, but Jennifer Love Hewitt’s résumé is beginning to read like that of a show biz veteran: At the moment, she has a starring role on a hit TV series, Fox’s Party of Five, and a self-titled pop album in record stores, and her new movie, the romantic comedy Rescue Me, is due out this spring. Love, as she is known, was born in Waco and grew up in Killeen, where she was discovered at an open audition and hired to represent sneakermaker L.A. Gear around the world on a promotional tour. When she was ten, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother to further her career and immediately won roles on TV shows like The Byrds of Paradise and in films like House Arrest. Flush with confidence, she says she plans to attend college but is in no rush to upset the direction of her life. “I’ve made a promise to myself that the one thing I’m never going to do is grow up,” she says. “But I like growing up to the degree that I like learning more.”
