Richard Linklater Wes Anderson near-identical paths

On February 22 our homegrown film industry will have much to cheer about when the two most celebrated Texas directors of the past quarter century, Richard Linklater, 54, and Wes Anderson, 45, square off in three major Academy Award categories—Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay—for their most recent efforts, Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel, respectively. But on closer inspection, it’s apparent that these two filmmakers—both reared in the Houston area—have followed a near-identical path to Oscar glory.
