Amy Weaver Dorning joined Texas Monthly as a copy editor in 2018, after spending two decades editing and writing for numerous magazines and websites in New York and San Francisco. The southeast Texas native and University of Texas graduate spends her free time reading, attempting to grow vegetables in her backyard garden, and hiking with her family and their blue lacy hound dog, Dot. She is currently working on a genealogy project to untangle her family’s deep Texas roots.
