UPDATED INFO on the benefit for Kenny Hatfield: Super Scramble at the Beeville Country Club; Saturday, January 4th

Tournament Info: As most of you know, former Beeville resident Kenny Hatfield was diagnosed with throat cancer recently.  He has already undergone surgery, but has a long, tough road in front of him.  We wanted to have a fun day of golf where Kenny’s friends from Beeville and surrounding towns could gather and enjoy an afternoon of golf and raise some money to help Kenny and his family out during this difficult time.

Format: Four Person Scramble.  Bring your own foursome regardless of handicaps.  We will have prizes for 1st place gross score and 1st place net score using the Fisher Factor Handicap System.  Closest to the hole and long drive contests will be held with great prizes donated.  We will have a shotgun start beginning at 11 AM. Call the Golf Shop with questions or to enter. 361-358-1216

Food:  Award winning Hatfield’s BBQ will be served to players during play at the pavilion (FREE!).

Raffle Drawing: All players entered in the tournament will receive one raffle ticket.  Additional raffle tickets will be on sale for $20 each.  The drawing will take place in the Country Club bar area after play.  You do not need to be present to win.  Players and friends are encouraged to bring items to be used as prizes in the drawing.  We already have several golf clubs, fishing trips and golf round donations and expect a lot more great prizes to be donated.

Entry Fee: $50 per player.  Net proceeds from tournament and raffle will go to Kenny and his family.  Cash or checks only.  Make checks payable to Ken Wilson Golf Shop.

Note: No beverages of any kind may be brought onto BCC premises.

Kenny Hatfield was on top of the world earlier this year when his young barbecue joint made it into Texas Monthly’s Top 50. He’s already dealt with a feud with his business partners, moving Hatfield’s BBQ to a new location in Rockport, and now cancer. This was posted to the Hatfield’s BBQ Facebook page a week ago:

“For all our followers and lovers of our BBQ. I wanted everyone to know that I had throat Cancer surgery yesterday morning and have good and bad news. The good news is that they didn’t have to go through the neck to take the glands but the bad news is the mass was more aggressive than expected. They removed everything they could and I will have to have chemo and radiation starting in a couple of weeks.”

This obviously came as a shock to Kenny, and to us after just seeing him working the crowd at last month’s BBQ Festival. Now that the surgery is over, Kenny is already on the ball with how you can help.
