Hey, Eileen! Look over from your blog!! The Village Voice, that font of information for everything Texan, has debuted a “Happy Hours” app, available through iTunes. This is so obvious that you have to wonder why no one thought of it till now. It  features HH listings in 30 cities, including FOUR IN TEXAS: Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Now, I know I don’t usually concern myself with tippling (nothing against it, I just feel totally outclassed when it comes to cocktail knowledge these days). But this app is fascinating, for two reasons: First, New Yorkers obviously feel the need to drink heavily when they leave home. Second, that of 30 U.S. cities they feel the need to drink heavily in, Texas leads the list. (Well, California has four, too, but  hey–some states didn’t even make the cut–how pathetic is that? Insert sound of obnoxious gloating here. In case you’re curious, other cities featured are Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Broward-Palm Beach, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New Orleans, NYC, Orange County, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington DC.) All right, all right, enough of this nonsense. You won’t find me at the iTunes store buying that ridiculous app–until the next time I go to Seattle.
