Lou Lambert, Texas restaurateur and author of Big Ranch, Big City Cookbook, will host three culinary camps in Marfa at El Cosmico on March 8-10, May 31-June 2, and August 9-11, 2013.

Throughout the three-day culinary camps, attendees of Big City Camp Cooking will take cooking classes, sample West Texas-centric dishes, and explore how the landscape and culture of this Texas town influence the rich culinary heritage of West Texas.

“Whenever I think of iconic Texas outdoor settings, I always imagine the majestic open landscapes and vistas of Far West Texas. Whenever I am in the mood for classic Texas foods of my youth, I think of foods born of West Texas heritage, the steaks and barbecue of cattle country, Tex-Mex-inspired dishes from the border, and down-home cast iron and Dutch oven cooking from ranch kitchens,” Lambert told TEXAS MONTHLY. ”I’m excited to have everyone join us at El Cosmico for the Camp Cooking series in Marfa and personally show them what I love about the unique settings, people, and foods of West Texas.”
