After conquering Pat Sharpe’s Where to Eat Now in Texas list, Houston is racking up even more culinary accolades. GQ has recognized two Houston restaurants in its own list of the 12 Most Outstanding Restaurants of 2013.

Alan Richman, restaurant critic for GQ, honored Justin Yu’s Oxheart and Tyson Cole’s Uchi Houston in the national list. The critic praised Yu for his mastery of working with seasonal vegetables and Uchi for creating a menu of “irresistible possibilities.” Richman further went on to say that “Houston is becoming the most electrifying food destination in America.”

Finishing out the rest of dozen are Little Serow in D.C.; Hog & Hominy in Memphis; Vedge in Philadelphia; Curate in Ashville, North Carolina.; West Bridge in Cambridge, Massachusetts.; Central Kitchen in San Francisco; Bäco Mercat in L.A.; St. Anselm in New York; and La Vara in Brooklyn.

In addition to the GQ mention, Texas also got some love from the Daily Meal, which unveiled its list of the best restaurants in America for 2013. Texas restaurants that found their way into the list include Underbelly in Houston, Fearing’s in Dallas, Woodshed Smokehouse in Fort Worth, Congress in Austin, Kreuz Market in Lockhart, and Franklin BBQ in Austin.
