I promised I would stop referring to her as “our little Jessica” when I learned that my youthful but quite esteemed colleague, Jessica Dupuy, was going to be the head honcho at a Texas wine dinner coming up at Café Modern, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, on Friday, October 21, at 7 p.m. Readers of this blog know Jessica’s great twice-monthly posts on Texas wines, which are invariably informative and useful. Now her expertise is being tapped in a very tangible way for a locally sourced dinner prepared by Café Modern’s executive chef Dena Peterson. In the spotlight will be wines from Lubbock’s highly regarded Llano Estacado Winery, paired with each of the four courses. As the dishes are presented, Jessica will briefly discuss the matching wine. On hand for additional queries will be Llano Estacado president and CEO Mark Hyman, who’s no slouch in the Texas wine department himself.  Getting a little curious, are you? Here’s the menu: First course: Roasted eggplant, tomato, and Latte Da goat cheese roulade with Texas olive oil and bail, paired with Viviana 2009 Second course: Crispy fried quail salad with roasted Texas sugar pears and molasses vinaigrette, paired with Cellar Reserve Chardonnay 2010 Third course: Strube Ranch petite filet with crisp Gulf oysters, celeriac-potato purée, and black-pepper demi-glace, paired with Cellar Reserve Tempranillo 2009 Fourth course: Dr Pepper chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream, paired with Cellar’s Select Port 2009 Seating is limited to 30 people. Price is $75 with pairings. Reservations required; call 817-840-2157. 3200 Darnell, Fort Worth.
