Grab your leather jacket and get your motor running! On Friday, December 1, we’re celebrating the start of our “The Open Road: Photography and the American Road Trip” exhbition. Join us for an evening of wanderlust-fueled delight and surround yourself with the nostalgia of that consummate American experience: the road trip. (More about the exhibition here:

Tune in to Sun Radio at 3pm and listen to Mark Murray, who’ll be sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews as we get ready at the Blanton, plus a great road trip-inspired playlist.

6:00 pm – Our event begins with Sun Radio broadcasting live from our atrium, with DJ Mark Murray behind the wheel.

8:00 pm – Dance the night away with Guitar Legs featuring Rosie Flores & Sophia Johnson, who’ll perform 2 sets of American rock-n-roll to keep your feet tapping.

FOOD & DRINK: Tasty bites will be available for purchase, including sliders and mini corndogs with waffle fries. Your favorite bartenders from The North Door will be there to wet your whistle. Our Blanton Cafe will also be open if you’re looking for other options.

Blanton Museum members get free admission and exclusive access to a custom member lounge sponsored by Revival Cycles, including a private bar with its own signature cocktail and a complimentary road trip-themed snack bar. Lounge activities will include leather bookmark-making with Tandy Leather.

GUIDED TOURS OF “The Open Road” are available at 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm & 7:00 pm. Tickets go quickly so be sure to sign up for a tour as soon as you can.

MUSEUM SHOP PRIZE DRAW: Enter your name into the drawings for Museum Shop gift cards! Sign-up at our desk which will be set-up in our atrium. Drawings will be at 7:30pm and 9:00pm in our Museum shop across the plaza. Entrants must be present to win.
