The event will be with Lawren Askinosie of Askinosie Chocolate, one of America’s leading craft chocolate makers. Askinosie has become known for their sustainable business model which profit shares with its cocoa farmers and employees. In fact, in 10 years, it has garnered dozens of awards, been featured in publications from Bon Appetit to The New York Times, and was recently named “One of the 25 Best Small Companies in America” by Forbes.
Lawren will take you through Chocolate 101 as you taste four of Askinosie’s bar chocolates paired with Chocolaterie Tessa’s bon bons made with those same bars. She will also discuss their direct trade model (something virtually no one else in the world does).
One of the bon bons will be the unofficial debut of Chocolaterie Tessa’s 72% Tanzania which we will be releasing for Valentine’s Day as their newest single-origin. The other three are limited edition bon bons only available at this class. The final pairing will be with Askinosie’s Zamora, the only new chocolate they have released in seven years.
In addition to the chocolate tasting, each attendee will take home a copy of Lawren and Shawn’s new book, Meaningful Work.
