For the last eleven years, the gallery has curated an end-of-season finale investigating the abiding attributes of great Texas art, posing the perennial question for all who care: “What makes Texas art, “Texas” art? The Texas Aesthetic series has been the gallery’s effort to engage viewers in an examination and celebration of the long tradition of Texas painting.
This year’s Texas Aesthetic has been thoughtfully crafted to bring patrons the summer’s most complete Texas art opportunity. Besides a stunning array of exceptional Texas artwork, the gallery rolls out the red carpet in a series of “Saturday Soirees” featuring the best of Texas literature, music, film and libations.Co-sponsored with Texas Monthly, Reaves | Foltz have partnered with the likes of Texas A&M University Press (and their Texas Book Consortium), KTRU’s radio host Joey McKeel, and a host of museum collaborations including the Grace Museum in Abilene, and Midland’s Haley Memorial Library to create a fun-filled, riveting art adventure. All of this pushing the exhibitions central thesis—“the finding of ‘Texas’ in Texas art”—to new heights and popular appeal. Check the William Reaves | Sarah Foltz Fine Art website often for schedule and further developments.
The Texas Aesthetic XI: The Search for “Texas” in Contemporary Arts and Culture will be on view May 12 – July 1, 2017 at William Reaves | Sarah Foltz Fine Art with an opening reception Saturday, May 13th from 6-8:30pm.More details below:
