No. 2 On the Water: Rio Grande Gorge
On its long trek from Central Colorado to the Gulf of Mexico, The Rio Grande makes one particularly regal stop near Taos, New Mexico. Its here at the Rio Grande Gorge that the river carves its way through layers of volcanic rock and ash – sometimes as deep as 850 feet and a mile wide. Marking the spot is one of the top-10 highest bridges in the United States, where you can stand overhead to capture magnificent photos of the flowing water, or better yet, toss in your raft upstream and boat below the bridge for some grande-sized adventure.
