No. 5 Underground: Carlsbad Caverns
What happens when sulfuric acid meets a whole mess of limestone under the majestic desert terrain? It forms an even more majestic terrain right below it – more than 119 caves, hidden below the Guadalupe Mountains in southeastern New Mexico. Carlsbad Caverns National Park is a beauty to behold in its own right with its rocky slopes, canyons and cacti. But it’s below the surface where its natural beauty peaks. Hike in on your own accord via the natural entrance, or take an elevator from the visitor center. Either way, expect to be blown away.
