No. 7 Help Your Neighbor
Our Teen Action Program (TAP) strives to address real community needs while sparking in our students a commitment to leadership, social responsibility, and personal discovery.
Students, teachers, administrators, and parents engage in various projects at more than 40 agencies, schools, and non-profit organizations throughout Santa Fe.
Students gain an enriched sense of themselves and others through experiences that span different cultures, generations, economic levels, and environmental issues. The goal is for students to further expand their understanding of societal issues by first identifying specific needs within the community and then designing projects that address these needs.
The Senior TAP Program consists of 45 hours completed by each individual senior with minimal guidance from the faculty and staff, giving seniors room for their own creative initiative in designing and implementing their programs of service. Each self-directed, self-designed program allows students to demonstrate leadership qualities by conscientiously identifying social problems and acting on them in a manner that suits each individual’s interests, talents, and gifts.
