Rick Perry’s debate performance last night was the latest in a string of gaffes caught on tape. Within moments of his fumble at the CNBC-sponsored debate, political pundits and journalists declared the Texas governor’s candidacy to be dead. But before we write the obituary, let’s take a fond look back at some of Perry’s more memorable campaign moments.

NOVEMBER 9, 2011 – CNBC DEBATE

Perry’s bold promise to eliminate three federal agencies at the presidential primary debate in Michigan did not go well. The brainlocked Governor was unable to name the third one (“EPA?” a helpful Mitt Romney offered), and after stumbling some more while flipping through his notes, he finally finished with a simple, “Oops.”

OCTOBER 28, 2011 – CORNERSTONE SPEECH

Last month, Perry gave a speech in New Hampshire for the conservative group Cornerstone Action. His giddy and animated performance sparked rumors that the governor was drunk or on painkillers, but supporters said he simply channeled his inner Yell Leader. 

SEPTEMBER 22, 2011 – “BEFORE HE WAS BEFORE”

The Republican presidential candidates met in Orlando, where Rick Perry tried to corner Mitt Romney on his chronic flip-flopping problem. Unfortunately for Perry, the accusation came out muddled and confused, a glimpse of things to come in the Perry campaign.
