According to an article in Science magazine, wearing red makes people feel sexier. But does voting red have the same effect?

The day after the election, released “Top 10 Cities Where Republicans Are Still Irresistible,” presumably to allow dismayed Romney supporters to take solace in their magnetic sex appeal. The dating website compiled the list by analyzing internal data about how often those who identified as Republican on their profiles were flirted with on the site. Texas is the biggest red state in the nation, so it comes as no surprise that three different Texas cities landed on the list. San Antonio took the sixth spot, Houston the fourth, and Dallas came in at number three.

Not to criticize’s methodology, but we here at the TM Daily Post take issue with the egregious omission of Austin from this list. As home to many politicians, lobbyists, fundraisers, and power-brokers, Austin is a hotspot for Republican dating, and there are some heartthrobs. Rick Perry cemented his image as the bad boy with his threats of secession and impromptu coyote killing, and he boasts the kind of devil-may-care attitude that led him to the Republican primary debates without memorizing his talking points first. And I bet if you started going steady with Karl Rove, he’d call Ohio’s 18 electoral votes for you on live television, just to prove his affection. Surely the presence of two Austin-area Lotharios justify the capital being put on the list. And when the eighty-third Texas legislature convenes in January, 114 more Republicans will descend upon the state capitol. That’s enough for almost a decade’s worth of swimsuit calendars.
