Rick Perry Fact: Chuck Norris endorses who Rick Perry tells him to endorse.

Well, we don’t know that for sure, but back when the governor suspended his campaign for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination and endorsed Newt Gingrich, so did Norris. And since the actor who played Walker, Texas Ranger was made an actual—well, honorary—Ranger (see the ceremony photo above) in 2010, doesn’t that make Perry his superior officer?

In any case, just as Perry is still out there talking Newt (well, sometimes), so are Norris and his wife Gena. In a column for World Net Daily, titled “Why I chose Newt over Santorum,” the politically conservative actor, who backed former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee in 2008, reiterated his preference for the flagging Gingrich over former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who has become the preferred conservative alternative to frontrunner Mitt Romney.

In his column, Norris noted that Santorum actually supported Romney in 2008. Norris then goes on to write a 27-item bullet-pointed list of what he doesn’t like about Santorum’s record, “as noted by the Club for Growth, Taxpayers for Common Sense, the South Carolina Hotline Blog, and other watchdog and news sources.”

Norris then concludes, “it’s no wonder in January that Rep. Ron Paul accused Santorum of having a ‘very liberal’ political record.”

Gingrich has said he plans to say in the race until August’s Republican convention, so perhaps if we ever have a Texas primary, we’ll see Newt, Cordell Walker, and the governor out on the campaign trail.
