This year’s summer athletic competitions officially kick off this July in the celebrated Japanese city of Tokyo. The games represent a celebration of athleticism, determination, and sportsmanship among the world’s diverse nations. This year’s international multi-sport event will showcase the time-honored hospitality of Japan, a country renowned for balancing its historical heritage with looking ahead to the future.

Enjoy Suntory Toki Whisky wherever you’re watching the summer competitions, whether at home or your local craft cocktail bar.

But you don’t have to make your way to the island nation of Japan to experience the authenticity of its culture. Texans can discover the beauty of this historic region wherever they watch the games and taste the beauty of Japan’s cultural heritage with Suntory Whisky Toki.

The history of Japanese whisky dates back nearly a century, which is around the time Shinjiro Torii, founder of Suntory, launched the Yamazaki distillery near Kyoto. Since then, the range of Japanese whisky has expanded significantly, the best of which are among the coveted, collected expressions of whisky in the world.

The exquisite balance and elegance of Toki is one such example. Subtle floral aromas mingle with notes of green apple, basil, ginger, and a touch of umami on this delicate yet beautifully crafted whisky. Suntory’s Toki is an artful blend of whiskies from Suntory’s acclaimed Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries. Marrying the fresh, green apple notes of the Hakushu American white oak cask malt whisky with the bold, sweet vanilla characters of the Chita grain whisky, a unique balance emerges in unison with the classic Yamazaki whisky. The result is a timeless blended whisky that balances heritage and innovation, a whisky that is truly emblematic of the culture from which it was born.

Suntory Toki’s light, versatile flavors can easily be enjoyed neat or over ice, but the expression evolves remarkably well when served in the form of a classic highball cocktail. With a nod toward the whisky-soda cocktails of the 1950s, the highball is having a comeback among some of the best bars in the world. Its brilliant simplicity has reached new heights throughout the most celebrated bars in Japan, where the intricacies of Japanese bartending techniques along with Suntory Toki’s elegance have elevated the highball to a modern classic

The perfect highball is a carefully crafted combination of Toki’s vivid blend, ice, and highly-carbonated mineral water—not too high in alkalinity and preferably with fine bubbles. This light, refreshing cocktail is both authentic and modern in its simplicity.
