Located in the heart of Fort Worth’s Cultural District, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art (the Carter) is a dynamic cultural resource that provides unique access and insight into the history and future of American creativity through its expansive exhibitions and programming. Encounter new ways to experience and understand American art by visiting the Carter this summer.
In 2021, the Carter celebrates its 60th year as a free museum presenting the best of American creativity. For this milestone year, the Carter is offering a comprehensive exhibition program both honoring the past and exploring the future of American art with exhibitions showcasing contemporary photography by a Vietnamese-American artist in An-My Lê: On Contested Terrain; exploring the depths of the Carter’s renowned photography collection in Photography Is Art; and looking at the museum’s history of collecting in An Expanding Vision: Six Decades of Works on Paper. The celebration continues with exciting events throughout the year, culminating in our biggest, loudest, boldest party yet on September 25, our 60th Birthday Bash! Don’t miss this free event full of family-friendly and hands-on art experiences and live music, all ending with a fireworks show.
