Conroe is also home to Bartlett’s Distillery, which distills whiskey and rum. Their spirits are created in very small batches, providing a uniqueness not found with larger distilleries. Be sure to try Bartlett’s rum, made with “Panela” or whole unprocessed evaporated sugar cane juice. This special ingredient is key in giving their rum products wonderful sugar cane flavors that you’re sure to enjoy.
For wine aficionados, Bernhardt Winery in Plantersville is an excellent option for a day trip. The winery, located about 25 miles west of Conroe, has an exciting concert and events calendar, and provides tastings and tours every day of the week but Monday. Blue Epiphany Vineyards is a real treat, founded by 4 local law enforcement officers over their love of wine. Their high-quality fine wines, made using old-world winemaking techniques, have earned the vineyard many awards since their recent opening.
