A forward-thinking institution, LSC constructed Workforce Centers of Excellence throughout the greater Houston area that focus on giving students the specific skills employers are looking for. Since 2017, LSC opened the following.

These LSC Workforce Centers of Excellence include state of the art equipment that ensure students are being trained with the most up to date technology. Many LSC instructors come from industry, providing a real-world perspective on what students can expect when they enter the workforce.

Workforce Education on Your Schedule
LSC has developed over 200 online Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes which gives students the flexibility to study at their convenience. Programs include Business and Professional Services, Computer/Digital Technology, Energy, Manufacturing and Construction, Health Sciences, Public Safety, and Education. Lone Star College CTE students can complete training online and then get hands-on training in an LSC Workforce Centers of Excellence which are adhering to regulations set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide safe instruction to all students.
4-Year Degrees for Less
Lone Star College now offers bachelor’s degrees in Nursing, Cybersecurity, Energy, Manufacturing, and Trades Management. Students can take advantage of earning a 4-year degree close to home and at LSC tuition rates saving them thousands of dollars. Students enrolled in LSC CTE programs can also earn Fast Track, non-credit workforce certificates designed for quick entry into the workforce. LSC offers select industry certifications that prepare a student for state, national or global industry-recognized credentials.
Funding Available for High Demand Careers
Workforce Scholarships, provided through third-party vendors, allow eligible students to obtain the skills needed to successfully reenter the workforce. The scholarship can cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other related costs for individuals. Legendary rock band Metallica recently awarded Lone Star College $50,000 to help students find exciting new careers in manufacturing, health care and transportation. The Metallica Scholars Grant is not a loan and does not have to be paid back.
“Our Metallica Scholars have exceeded expectations and inspired us in more ways than we could have possibly imagined,” says Metallica’s Lars Ulrich.
