Catch a Round Rock Express Game at the Dell Diamond
Round Rock is the Sports Capital of Texas and home to the Dell Diamond stadium where you and your family can catch a game and maybe even a baseball. Grab a ticket to watch the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers for a day of baseball fun. Explore the stadium and take in the sights of fans in the stands, and the smells of delicious ballpark favorites. Dine on everything from classic hot dogs to Texas barbecue while you watch the game. There is even a play area with a rock climbing wall and a basketball court for the kiddos who want to take a break from all of the baseball action. Make sure to see if you can find the Welcome to Round Rock mural at the stadium for the perfect photo-op to post of your trip.
Hit a Home Run at Home Run Dugout
Have you ever hit a home run before? Now you can at Round Rock’s Home Run Dugout, a virtual batting cage experience located at the Dell Diamond. Practice your swing as the soft-toss pitching machine pops up a ball and sets you up with a perfect pitch. After you swing, the speed and angle of your hit will be digitally projected on the screen. This activity will make players of all skill levels feel like a baseball star.
Try a Famous Round Rock Donut
When you are looking for the best spot for breakfast or an afternoon treat, head over to the famous Round Rock Donuts, a Round Rock staple that has been attracting locals and visitors alike since 1926 with its sugary creations. These donuts are yellow in hue because of the farm fresh eggs that are used in the recipe, the same recipe that was created by the original owners. Offering everything from classic glazed donut holes, to cake donuts and éclairs, there is something for the entire family to munch on. You can even order a 14-inch Texas sized donut, because everything is bigger in Texas after all.
Explore The Park System
Round Rock is home to some amazing parks and trails that are perfect for a day of hiking and biking with your family and friends. A local favorite is Old Settlers Park which has everything from 3.3 miles of paved trails, a lake stocked with fish, to 12 tennis courts, seven playgrounds, and much more. Pack a picnic and spend the afternoon enjoying the Texas sunshine with an activity of your choice. If you stay until the sun sets, you can even watch a movie at the Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-In located in Old Settlers Park for a dose of nostalgic fun.
