This airy spot in the Museum District is both a boutique grocer, selling fresh bread from Magnol Bakery (the sourdough boule is the best we’ve had in years), good wines, tuna salad, and the like, as well as a cafe that offers remarkable bargains on mezzes (hummus, tahini, feta), conservas (mussels, anchovies, sardines), and cheeses (all kinds). A roasted red-pepper-and-tomato soup paired with a gooey grilled cheese sandwich was lunch perfection, as was one of the tenderest steak kebabs ever.
