More than an award-winning brewery, this is an old-world, German-inspired castle with a restaurant, a brewpub, a beer hall, and a lovely biergarten. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the lively bar look out on the sparkling-clean copper kettles and tanks where the brewing process is guided by the German purity laws of 1516 (take a brewery tour and find out what that entails). The restaurant serves upscale pub grub that goes deliciously with a flight or two of the several beers on tap. We ordered a tableful of appetizers—the potato tart, sausage plate, fondue—and were happy travelers. We’ll be back.
