Benjamin Berg’s new casual eatery, an homage to New York’s P. J. Clarke’s, hits the mark. And the elevated pub food matches the lively setting. We sat at a table up front, in view of the long, narrow, and packed bar, opposite the kitchen. New England clam chowder flavored with smoky bacon could not have been better. Crab beignets were crispy and crammed with crab. Our wagyu cheeseburger, though overcooked, was still juicy, and surrounded by superb onion rings. The cod in the fish and chips was fresh, sweet, and succulent (far better, alas, than the woefully wooden cottage fries). And an over-the-top scorched-marshmallow banana pudding finished us off. Oh, there’s also a raw bar inside and a lemonade stand out back.
