Dining Guide
Belle Sucre [East]
Pastry chef Jonathan Bowden has opened a second bakery, on the city’s east side. Larger than the original store, the new spot has ample seating and a bigger kitchen, with the potential to produce more savory menu items in the future. But today it’s offering the same delicious array of macarons and daily bread specials that include a traditional French baguette (Fridays), sinfully rich sourdough batard (Wednesdays), and extra-decadent jalapeño cheddar loaf (Saturdays). For breakfast, pair the made-to-order French press coffee with a flaky almond croissant or the hearty ham, cheddar, and onion scone. For dessert, save room for the perfectly formed and not-too-sweet eclairs.
