Dining Guide
Bohanan’s
This elegant windowed dining room, in a circa 1890s building, overlooks Houston Street and is as pink-tablecloth fancy as it gets in casual San Antonio. Chef Mark Bohanan’s upstairs room is made for special celebrations, high-rolling business dinners, and pop-the-question date nights, while the cozy pub downstairs is a best-kept secret for cocktails and an impressive lunch (mesquite-grilled ribeyes, Maine lobster rolls). Both rooms avoid clichés but deliver with a sense of tradition that makes more-formal attire seem right. Prime Akaushi beef is the star of the menu, but the seafood is well worth considering, from the sashimi-grade tuna and seaweed salad with house-made ponzu and Asian aioli to the beautifully finished macadamia nut–crusted Gulf red snapper. Expect smooth service, day and night.
