Brick Vault Brewery & Barbecue
The fact that the word “Brewery” comes first in this new addition to the Gage Hotel complex suggests it is the more important function. The food seems to take a backseat. Our first visit left us disappointed in the barbecue, which was dry and lacked the assertive seasoning Texas ’cue is famous for. Even the touted jalapeño mac and cheese was watery and tasteless. Coleslaw was pretty standard, distinguished only by the addition of pineapple. The best thing on offer, besides the beer, is the tangy version of barbecue sauce.
