If you can stand the noise at bustling Bravery Chef Hall, meander to this rustic back corner where rancher Felix Flores and Jess DeSham Timmons have created Cherry Block and pull up a chair at the counter (or join the nearby communal table). Carnivores line up for the meaty selections of steak and the fine-looking CB burger sandwiched between buns made by Cake & Bacon Bakery. The Bayou Harvest, blackened catfish perched on alligator sausage, tasted fine (if salty), but the presentation wasn’t that appealing for the price. Our small pork chop looked prettier but, alas, was also oversalted and overcooked. Sides fared better: creamed greens were fresh and seasoned perfectly, street corn was tasty, and you can’t miss with the popular mac and cheese. For craft cocktails, head to the Secret Garden, a serene bar tucked away in the back of the hall.
