HeartBrand Beef, Atkinson Farms, and Houston Dairymaids are just a few of the purveyors listed on the chalkboard of this bright Briargrove nook. The friendly, fast-casual spot uses almost all local ingredients, except for the delicious olive oil from owner Rafael Nasr’s family in Lebanon and the Lebanese wines nestled next to the Texas beers on the drink list. Our group noshed on hummus rich with olive oil, parsley, and Aleppo pepper and thick labneh dusted with za’atar and pomegranate seeds. The tabbouleh salad was tasty, albeit a little soggy, and the flatbreads were, well, flat tasting. For mains, we chose roasted chicken with sides of lovely lentils and rice pilaf, and we threw in cauliflower with toasted almonds and caramelized onions—winner, winner chicken dinner. The pita sandwiches are bountiful (falafel comes gussied up with tahini, red cabbage, and pickled turnips), and bowls offer grains, akaushi beef and vegetable options.
