Dining Guide

Deep Ellum Funkytown Fermatorium

Another new arrival from Big D, Deep Ellum Brewing Co. calls its western outpost a ferma-torium. Making six exclusive-to-Fort Worth beers, the brewery doubles as a darned good place to eat, a first in town. With training from a Cane Rosso alum, the chefs turn out exceptional pizzas in rapid succession from a wood-fired oven. The instant favorite is the carnivore’s delight called Texas AF, laden with mozzarella, spicy calabrese sausage, bacon jam, pepperoni, and a little barbecue sauce. For snacking, the golf ball–size arancini bear a little bit of brisket inside and are served with a pepper-fueled aioli. Wings, which can be dull as dishwater, are plump and juicy; the lemon-Parmesan variety pair nicely with any of the IPAs on tap. The vast interior is somewhat industrial but warmed up with wood details.
