Still bearing the clean and uncluttered lines of Italian restaurants formerly at this address, El Patio is nevertheless Mexican to the core, with a menu offering enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, and the ubiquitous burgers. Things didn’t look auspicious when the chips and a strangely beige salsa arrived, but how deceiving looks can be! They should sell jars of the smooth, perfectly spicy sauce. Our chiles rellenos didn’t need any help in that department—melted cheese oozed from two fat roasted peppers—but the rice and (unrefried) beans sprang to life under a dollop or two.
