Sipping a beer (or one of a dozen or so cocktails) while overlooking the pastoral Hill Country landscape of the Treaty Oak Distillery just got a whole lot more enticing with the addition of this counter-service barbecue-centric concept. On offer are standard meat plates and snacks that deliver more flavor than you’d expect, like the spicy queso and crisp, thick tortilla chips and the tasty brisket banh mi. Crowd favorites included the Texas-size bison ribs—tender and smoky and with a great bite from their drizzle of malt vinegar reduction—and the pork spare ribs with an Asian-inspired sesame-bourbon glaze. But the show stealer was a humble serving of borracho beans, which packed quite a punch and had us ordering a second helping.
