Occupying a prime spot in downtown Alpine, this former service station has been reincarnated many times (the height of the ceiling must date from the days when you needed someplace for the heat to go). Now the clean lines and cheerful staff will make you glad the grease monkeys are gone. The menu offers a wide range of Italian standards—Caesars and other salads, soups, pastas, sandwiches, and a couple of dozen different pizzas. All but two of the specialty pies are made with Alfredo sauce. We tried a large artichoke and tomato, all creamy and smooth, the bits of tomato making red polka dots on the white sauce.
