Dining Guide

We’d be hard pressed to find a more Southern name, and the food follows suit here (as does the atmosphere, with a long veranda-like room, black-and-white-tiled floors, and lots of sunlight streaming through the windows). If you ever played tea party with a child, you’ll immediately identify with the small grilled cheese sandwiches adorning the cup of either tomato bisque or cream of green garlic soup with bits of chorizo. And what could be more quintessentially Southern than a good meat loaf? This version draped across mashed potatoes with a superlative wild-mushroom gravy wins big points. Tangy rhubarb and strawberries blended in a mouthwatering fried pie; a scoop of Henry’s coconut ice cream took this dessert over the top.
