The pioneer outpost of this casual favorite in Lower Greenville (the others in Fort Worth and Trophy Club) has been around for a decade, and its rooftop patio, complete with vine-covered pergola, is popular for small parties. “HG” stands for “Hunter Gatherer,” and a paleo-influenced American menu offers burgers, bowls, and entrées such as bison short ribs and seared redfish (any item may be made gluten- or dairy-free upon request). The honey-garlic brussels sprouts were delightfully crispy; a shrimp ceviche was fresh and light; and the aforementioned redfish with mushroom quinoa was tasty (although its mushroom cream sauce resulted in mushroom overload). We loved the spicy three-bean bison chili and the tender brined and grilled bone-in Duroc pork chop, an inch thick and looking like something Fred Flintstone might whip up.
