Dining Guide

Hop & Vine

The Great Northwest welcomes this small but powerful locally owned gastropub in the Alamo Ranch shopping center, an oasis in a sandy expanse of burgers, barbecue, and franchises. The menu is as small as the space, but what’s there is just as chic, and on-trend. Between our table and the one next to us, we went through much of chef Jeremy Carolino’s menu: fried sous-vide chicken, shrimp and grits arranged as a tiny tower, oh-so-tender brisket sliders, a vegetable “succotash” with avocado, squash, fava beans, and chickpeas (a dish which shouldn’t work but does). Don’t miss the Parm fries, about as perfect as potatoes can be.
