In the vast world of counter-service burger joints, there are few that top Hopdoddy. Maybe it’s because of the range of specialty burgers offered, from the decadent Bacon Jam Double to the chile-laced Llano Poblano. Or maybe it’s the Texas-size stainless steel bowl of crispy shoestring fries dusted with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil. It could be the cocktails and booze-infused milkshakes too. One certainty: no one walks away hungry from this place. We loved the spicy Nashville hot chicken sandwich, complete with slaw and avocado mayo, but the vegan burger—made from a plant-based Beyond patty, vegan Gouda, and all the veggie fixings—was a deliciously satisfying surprise.
