It’s Italian Cucina
Its menu leaning to Northern Italian cuisine, this sleek but casual South Lamar spot (a new expanded version of East Austin’s It’s Italian Market) offers a nice respite for a low-key dinner or lunch. We started with the arancini of the day, which arrived as warm breaded morsels of creamy risotto laced with lemon and basil. Fresh burrata cheese dolloped over thick slices of heirloom tomatoes made for a delicious salad course and left plenty of room for a rich risotto made with braised osso buco. Tender pan-fried trout with grilled shrimp was sadly overwhelmed by a lemon cream sauce that could has used a little more brightness. We finished with a decadent multilayered Italian cream cake.
