After a brief delay and fervent discussion regarding the validity of our reservation, we settled down at a table near the pond behind this revived locals’ favorite. Try this: Two in our group ordered the Spicy Caesar Pasta Salad, which was an interesting mix of romaine, baby kale, and penne pasta (one added grilled shrimp, the other blackened salmon). The rest of us stuck with the restaurant’s theme and ordered the house special carne asada (ordered and delivered medium) served with a side of grilled veggies. The Tex-Mex platter was resplendent with all kinds of favorites, including enchiladas, crispy tacos, a tamale, and guacamole tostadas. Pro tip: Service at Javi’s seems to have been impaired a bit by the pandemic, but that will likely resolve itself.
