Leave it to East Texas to turn farm to table into ranch to table. This burger joint and meat market boasts dry-aged beef straight from its very own JT2 Cattle Company, 25 minutes outside Lindale. The funky part-brick, part-stucco facade is even patterned like a Guernsey cow. Order this to go: JT2’s offers a build-your-own option, but we found the Fire Cracker mighty appealing, as it comes adorned with pepper jack cheese, chipotle peppers, bacon, and jalapeños, along with the requisite lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and pickles. Be sure to add the thick, hand-cut fries, just for good measure. Our young dining companion was content with her grilled cheese with a side of fried pickles. Pro tip: JT2’s is currently offering a Four for Forty-five special: four burgers made to your specifications and packaged to go for a mere $45.
