In a sea of local Mexican food joints in Amarillo, La Campana is in the top tier. While their lunch and dinner offer some of the best Mexican food in town, the breakfast is the standout. The stars are the pork carne guisada in green sauce with scrambled eggs, steak with chilaquiles, and huevos divorciados, a couple of over-easy fried eggs in your choice of sauce—prickly red or gentle green. Most breakfast plates include skillet potatoes and top-notch refried beans along with two outstanding, still-warm flour tortillas. Be warned, the green salsa is made daily and the spiciness can fluctuate from pleasantly tingly to palate numbing.
