Tucked between all the downtown steakhouses along Main Street, this gastropub has a strong gourmet accent, thanks to chef Blaine Staniford, who also helms the kitchen at nearby sister restaurant Grace. Staniford’s pork carnitas are not what you’d expect, and they’re fabulous. A smoked pork shank finds the meat actually falling off the bone; take a forkful and tuck into delicate corn tortillas with a smidge each of avocado, charro beans, and jalapeño-laced slaw. Juicy Maine scallops, seared at the edges but silken underneath, sit atop a creamy polenta pillow with green beans alongside. The caramelized brussels sprouts make the best starter, but it’s hard to pass up the deviled eggs, made with spicy Best Maid pickles.
