Virtuous lunches that taste frivolous keep us coming back to this Tanglewood treasure. The power salad combining sweet potatoes, broccoli, edamame, carrots, sunflower seeds, walnuts, apples, lettuces, and green goddess dressing is best with a slice of the walnut-scallion bread alongside, while sourdough is just right for the grilled salmon BLT with avocado and lemon aioli. Best at Saturday breakfast is the smoked brisket hash with caramelized onion, potatoes, and minced kale with a sunny-side up egg. For take-home dinner, our favorite options remain pot pies with gorgeous burnished crusts hiding pot roast, carrots, and garlic in red wine–infused beef stock; and Thai peanut pasta salad. The bakery case alone is worth the trip: musts include three-layer strawberry cake, buttermilk tarts, and toffee crunch cake. Dine in or outside on the patio, or just get it all to go.
