If you find yourself in the Embassy theater neighborhood jonesing for tacos, this cafe more than fills the bill, whether you eat in the small, bright dining room or order takeout (as a steady stream of customers were doing when we visited). A not-so-humble platter of huevos rancheros proves the point. What makes it special? A richly flavorful sauce, fresh-off-the-comal corn tortillas, and just-out-of-the-fryer potatoes, crisp cubes that leave most breakfast sides out in the cold. Chicharrón norteño is also a specialty, along with other breakfast items most often found south of the border: tacos de rajas, deshebrada, made-in-house tamales, and for lunch, an assortment of tortas, along with the expected enchiladas.
