Lou’s Bodega

The paradoxical idea of a high-end bodega notwithstanding (Lou’s is a collaboration between McGuire Moorman Hospitality and Bunkhouse Group, two dining/hotel operations that could never be accused of skimping on luxury), this colorful all-outdoor eatery in East Austin (set in what used to be a tire shop) delivers on its mission of to-go sustenance (Intelligentsia coffee, breakfast tacos, porchetta sandwiches and kale salads) and alfresco sit-down affairs involving beer and sangria and mostly rotisserie items. The chicken is delicious, brined in herbs and lemon and served with dipping sauces that include serrano honey and smoked paprika piri-piri. Our favorite side is the rotisserie potatoes, golden, herb-sprinkled, and ready to dip in a decadent mustard jus.
