Perhaps our best dish in this plush second-story dining room came first: mushroom “cappuccino,” an earthy, dense porcini soup with a chive cream on top—perfect with the gratis roll of steaming hot bread. No complaint either with a tender lobster tail made even richer with a scoop of corn bread pudding and a topping of béarnaise sauce. And bone-in short ribs, a huge portion, tender and succulent, came with asparagus, carrots, and buttery smoked potatoes. One of us liked his tagliatelle with saffron sauce and black trumpet mushrooms topped with microgreens; the other thought the pasta tasted a bit starchy. Tasting menus are also featured. Expect able servers, upscale prices and, thankfully, complimentary parking in the Hotel Alessandra.
